Este fim de semana fui até Caraguatatuba somente para tomar um banho de mar e comer um peixe a beira mar com a família, mas o que vimos no retorno para o centro da cidade mexeu com minhas lembranças.

Alguns paragliders e uma asa delta no ar, que minha esposa captou de dentro do carro. Aí me dei conta de quanto Felipe já voou lá com sua asa Quero-quero, do quanto eu também voei lá com a Quero-quero herdada de meu pai, e posteriormente com minha Quasar (Sensor) branca. Mas nem de perto vivi o tanto que Felipe viveu nesta cidade com suas asas deltas.
Some paragliders and hang-gliders in the air, my wife took pics from the car. Then I realized how much Felipe flew there with his glider “Quero-quero”, how I also flew there with the same glider inherited from my dad, and later with my white Quasar (Sensor). But not so much experiences as Felipe lived in this city with his gliders.

Lá nos idos dos anos 80, um amigo de Felipe havia acabado de comprar uma asa delta de fora do país, que tinha um manual em inglês.

Felipe não recusou, mas praticava vôo livre de forma empírica até então, e toda a teoria que tinha vinha do curso de piloto privado, que ensinava ao piloto de uma aeronave pequena, ao cruzar com uma zona turbulenta a reduzir um pouco a velocidade, para que a estrutura não se comprometesse.

E então Felipe decolou com a asa importada, chegou alto na zona de pouso, deparou com uma turbulência, e, de forma contrária ao recomendado a se proceder com uma asa delta (devidamente escrita no manual em inglês), “aliviou”, reduziu a velocidade, e a asa perdeu o controle.

Só me lembro quando ele me disse, na condição de “bom ateu” que ele era: “Pois é, se quando vi que iria pro chão mesmo, botei as 4 patas pra frente... se tivesse juntado as 2 mãos pra rezar, não estaria aqui com vocês”.

De fato, isto lhe salvou, mas ele quebrou os 2 braços e 2 as pernas. O mais interessante foi que ele não quis ser hospitalizado em Caraguatatuba. Ele fez com que um amigo (não me lembro quem) viesse conduzindo o carro até São José dos Campos (100 km). Me lembro quando o carro parou em frente de casa, e ele me chamou para me dizer que dali iria para o hospital, onde seu medico de confiança, dr. Branquinho, lhe operaria. Eu olhei pra dentro e vi seus braços e pernas todos retorcidos...
